how to create slideshow in windows movie maker

how to create slideshow in windows movie maker A slideshow is a great way to share your best photos and videos with friends and family. Rather than locking them in a dark room with you, create a digital slideshow that you can email or share on social media.

In this guide we show you how to make dynamic picture or video slideshows using the free tool Windows Movie Maker.

Last month I created a slide show for a friend at work. Her daughter was turning nine years old and my friend wanted to show the video at her daughter’s birthday party.

I spent about one evening creating this presentation using the pictures that she gave me and some music I already had. However, I tried to tell her what I am going to tell you, anyone can produce their own slide show.

You might be thinking what she thought, “I don’t have the software on my computer to make slide shows.”

While this may be true for the minority, most people actually do have a program capable of creating a slide show.

If you have a newer version of Windows, than you will likely have a program called Windows Movie Maker.

You can easily check your computer to see if you have this program by clicking on the start button, all programs, and searching for Windows Movie Maker.

I will make a slideshow using pictures of my cats and explain each part of the process.

Before beginning, please have these items prepared.

-Make sure computer or laptop is using Windows 10

-A computer mouse (recommended)

-A file already setup with the pictures to be used in the slideshow

Windows Movie Maker has long been one of the best video editors for Windows. Often used to make simple movies, Movie Maker is also an exceptional picture slideshow creator. With Windows Movie Maker 12, it is now easier than ever to create crisp and professional looking videos and picture slideshows.

This is the program I will be using to explain how to create a slide show; however you can also use similar programs. In addition to this program, you will also need some music, and pictures. If you want to put your slide show on DVD, than you will also need a DVD burner and DVD’s.

Now, the first thing you will need to do is gather your pictures and enter them into the computer. If you have them on the computer already than you are one step ahead; however if you don’t you will need them either in digital format or you will require a photo scanner. In order to use your music you will need to either rip the music from a CD or have the audio file already on your computer. It is the same concept as with the pictures.

Now, it is time to open your Movie Maker program and import all of your supporting files. This is done by navigating the Windows Movie Maker program and clicking to open the program. You should begin your project by giving it a name. You can do this by clicking on File and than on Save Project As. You can than type the project name where it says File Name.

When you open the program you will notice that the screen has four panes. The first pane on the left of your screen is a sort of tool bar. The middle pane is where you can view your imported media, slide show transitions, or slide show effects.

Last thing to do is add a title to the slideshow which is at the top in the same area where “add videos and photos” is. . When adding a title be sure the first picture is selected when you click the title option so the title will go before everything else. After adding some text into the title box the slideshow is ready to watch!

how to burn a dvd in windows 7

Windows Media Center is one of the features in Windows 7 that you can use to burn DVDs. WMC uses the Windows DVD Maker engine to burn the DVDs and CDs, but does it from within the Media Center interface. Don’t expect anything too sophisticated, but you can use it to burn a DVD with your Media Center remote.

There are many ways to copy DVDs and many different programs out there to help with copying DVDs. Since you are using Windows 7 and Windows 7 comes with DVD burning software, I’ll show you how to use the software that comes with Windows 7.The steps you took to copy the dvd should have worked. Once you copied all the files to the desktop, put in a blank DVD. If an AutoPlay box opens up with options, you can select “Burn files to disk using windows explorer.” If the box does not show up after putting in the blank DVD, you can open up windows Explorer and click on the DVD drive on the lower left side.

#1 – Download the Windows 7 Beta 1 .ISO file!

Well duh! Save it somewhere easy to get to (like your desktop).

#2 – Download and install ImgBurn

Rather that try muddling through with burning the .ISO file with whatever tools you might already have installed, download ImgBurn and use that. That way we’re all on the same page!

#3 – Burn the .ISO file to DVD

OK, pop a blank DVD into your DVD writer drive (for now I’m assuming that you actually have a DVD writer, if you don’t I’ll show you something else you can do in a moment). With that done, fire up ImgBurn. Select Write image file to disc.

4 – Use the DVD

You can now use the DVD like any other OS install disc … pop it in the DVD drive of the system you want to install Windows 7 onto and boot up the PC and you should get that Press any key to boot from CD or DVD message. Press any key to kick off the proceedings!

Note: If you don’t get that Press any key to boot from CD or DVD message then you’ll need to dig out your motherboard manual and twiddle with the boot device settings.

What if you haven’t got a DVD burner or just don’t want to hand over an entire machine to Windows 7 beta testing? Are you stuck? Nope! You have two options:

Windows Media Center is particularly useful if you’re stuck with protected WTV files (recorded from, say, a movie channel). Windows Media Center is the best method for burning WTV files to a DVD.

You can leave the setting as “With a CD/DVD player” if you want since it is compatible with older computers. Click Next.

Now drag and drop all the files from your desktop into the explorer window. Then click “Burn to disc.” Another window will open up, just click next. If you get any error messages, please update your question with the error message.

Click the Yes button and go grab a latté.

This step takes a while, especially if you’re burning a long recorded TV show. When Media Center comes back, you have a fully functional DVD, ready to pop into any DVD player.

how to use windows movie maker 2019

how to use windows movie maker 2019 was a simple, free video editor that was last updated in 2012 and officially discontinued last year. Windows 8 and 10 launched without a video editing app, but following the Fall Creator’s Update, there’s now one included in the Microsoft Photos app – if you know where to look.

To help with Movie Maker’s learning curve, we’ve put together a comprehensive walk-through on how to use the software in Windows 8/8.1.

Note: Movie Maker on operating systems prior to Windows 8 largely has the same functionality, though there are some variances in the interface and menus. For those using a version of Windows before 8/8.1, we’ve provided a link to Microsoft’s walk-through for those operating systems at the conclusion of this article.

Windows Movie Maker (formerly known as Windows Live Movie Maker in Windows 7), a free yet professional video editing software by Microsoft, can help you easily and quickly create your outstanding video, and then share it on OneDrive, Facebook, Vimeo, YouTube, and Flickr.

However, how to use Movie Maker 2018? Now, you can read the Windows Movie Maker tutorial to learn how to create a wonderful video.

in May 2017, Microsoft announced Story Remix – a new video editor that would be included with the Fall Creator’s Update. Instead of just making simple home movies, Story Remix would allow users to combine video clips and photos with virtual 3D objects created in Remix 3D.

Want to be the next Martin Scorsese? Windows Movie Maker may not allow you to achieve this level of stardom, but if you master the program, you could be the talk of the next family get together. Microsoft’s Windows Movie Maker makes splicing home videos a walk in the park.

Adding Transitions between Clips
Transition effects, widely used in video editing software like Windows Movie Maker, appear when one slide/clip replaces another one, improving your video editing skills.

Movie Maker offers numerous transition styles including Diagonals, Dissolves, Patterns and Shapes, Reveals, Shatters, etc. However, do you know how to use Microsoft Movie Maker to add transitions between clips?

The steps are:

Select the clip to which you wish to add a transition. After selecting, you will find a blur highlight square, as shown below.

However, when the Windows 10 Fall Creator’s Update rolled around, Story Remix had turned into a less ambitious tool much more like the late Windows Movie Maker. It lets users organize media in a timeline, apply special effects and transitions, set the whole thing to music and add 3D animations (but not objects). Rather than releasing it on its own as originally intended, Microsoft chose to add it to the existing Photos app.

Although its scope is somewhat narrower, it’s a brilliant tool for anyone who wants to make a good looking video without mastering complicated software. Here’s how to find it and create a video from start to finish.

Open the program and start a new project by going to File > New Project. Save your new project under any name you’d like, and choose a destination for the project to save to. We recommend saving as often as possible while working to avoid losing any editing progress–in the event the program or operating system crashes or freezes.

How To Burn CD OR DVD On Windows 10

Open your browser, navigate to “https://www.windowsmoviemakerdownload.com/windows-dvd-maker-windows-10/” and click the download button to download the setup file.

You can use the Windows 10 built-in CD/DVD burning feature or Windows Media Player to burn movies, videos, music, photos, documents, and other data to a CD or DVD.

Windows 10 default built-in CD/DVD burning function

Microsoft Windows 10 has just like the previous versions of Windows a built-in disc burning feature that allows you to burn all kinds of files and folders to a CD or DVD without using third-party CD/DVD burning software.

A few examples of supported file types are:

Audio: MP3, WMA, and WAV
Videos: AVI, MP4 (MPEG-4), MKV, WMV, MPG, FLV, VIDEO_TS, etc.
Photos: JPG (JPEG), PNG, GIF, etc.
Documents: PDF, TXT, DOC, DOCX, ODT, XLS, etc.

Notes:

If you want to burn video files to DVD using the built-in disc burning feature, then you should know that this DVD will only play on computers and DVD players that support the video formats you burn to DVD.
If you want to burn MP3 files to CD using the built-in disc burning feature, then you should know that this CD will only play on computers and CD players, DVD players, and car stereos that support the MP3 audio format.

If you want the CD to play on any player, then you will have to use Windows Media Player to burn the MP3 files to an audio CD.

Windows Media Player

Windows Media Player is a media player for playing videos and music and also for viewing photos on PCs running Microsoft Windows.

And:

Windows Media Player can also be used for burning videos, music and photos to a CD or DVD.

Burning a CD or DVD in Windows 10

This method works for all file types like audio (music), videos (movies), images (photos), documents, and other file types.

Tips for burning an MP3 CD:

If you want to have an organized MP3 CD, then you should create folders on your computer and copy the MP3 files into these folders before you start the burning process.
It’s recommended to burn your music to a CD-R instead of a CD-RW (rewritable), because not all CD players can play rewritable CDs properly.
Place all MP3 files or folders in one folder and make sure that the total file size of that folder does not exceed the capacity of your CD (usually 650 MB or 700 MB). To view the file size of an envelope, right-click on the folder and choose “Properties.”
Note: The CD or DVD you will burn using the built-in disc burning feature of Windows 10 can only be played on computers and on CD/DVD players that support the file types/formats you burn onto your disc – except when you burn VIDEO_TS files and folders to DVD, because then it will create a Video DVD that will play on any DVD player. However, most new CD and DVD players support various file formats.

1. Insert a blank (empty) CD or DVD into the CD/DVD burner drive of your PC.

2. Open-File Explorer (Windows Explorer).

3. Go to the location on your computer where the files/folders are stored you want to burn to a CD or DVD.

4. Select all the files/folders.

5. Right-click on the selected files/folders, go to Send to and then choose your CD/DVD burner drive (e.g., DVD RW Drive (D:) or CD RW Drive (E:) ).

Note: if you want to burn VIDEO_TS to DVD, then copy the complete VIDEO_TS folder to the CD/DVD burner drive.

A small Burn a Disc window will appear.

6. At Disc title you enter a name for your disc.

7. Select With a CD/DVD player.

8. Click on Next.

Your files/folders will now be copied to the CD/DVD burner drive of your PC, and when it’s done copying, it will open the CD/DVD burner drive in a new window.

If it doesn’t open the drive in a new window, then open File Explorer and click on the trip in the left-sidebar.

9. When you’re done copying files/folders to your CD/DVD burner drive, you click on Drive Tools.

10. Click on Finish burning.

Burning a CD or DVD in Windows 10 using Windows Media Player

This tutorial will show you how to burn video(s), MP3, and WMA audio files and pictures to a Data CD or DVD.

And:

This tutorial will also show you how to burn MP3, WMA, and WAV files to an Audio CD that will play on any CD player and car stereo.

Tip: If you want to burn MP3, WMA or WAV to a CD, then use a CD-R, not a CD-RW, because not all CD players or car stereos can play rewritable CDs properly.

Note: If you burn files to a Data CD or DVD, then that disc will only play on computers and CD or DVD players that support the file types you burn to your CD or DVD. Most new CD and DVD players support various file formats.

1. Insert a blank (empty) CD or DVD into the CD/DVD burner drive of your PC.

2. Open Windows Media Player.

Two ways to open Windows Media Player in Windows 10:

Click on the start menu button, click on Windows Accessories and then click on Windows Media Player.
Type up into the Windows search bar and click on Windows Media Player when it appears.
3. Click on the Burn tab at the top right (between the Play and Sync tab).

5. Open-File Explorer (Windows Explorer).

6. Go to the location on your computer where the files are stored you want to burn to a CD or DVD.

7. Make sure that File Explorer and Windows Media Player are both visible and standing next to each other.

Note: The total time or file size (MB or GB) can not exceed the capacity of your CD (usually 74 or 80 minutes or 650 MB or 700 MB) or DVD (usually 4.3 GB).

Tip: You can view the time in minutes or file size in MB or GB you have left on your CD or DVD at ..:.. free of .. mins (e.g., 79:57 free of 80 mins) or … GB free of … GB (e.g., 4.3 GB free of 4.3 GB) located just above the Burn list.

9. If you want you can arrange the videos, songs or photos in the order, you want them to appear on your disc.

How To Using Windows DVD Maker

Open your browser, navigate to “https://www.windowsmoviemakerdownload.com/windows-dvd-maker-windows-10/” and click the download button to download the setup file.

Built into Windows is a utility called the Windows DVD Maker. As the name implies, it allows you to create a video DVD from your existing videos and digital photos. The service even lets you have menus, a scene selection page, and enable a slide show with music.

To use Windows DVD Maker, click the Start button, type DVD Maker, and press Enter. You’ll shortly see the Windows DVD Maker dialog box. (See Figure 1.)

Figure 1. Start page of Windows DVD Maker.

Click the button labeled “Choose Photos and Videos,” and you’ll be shown a screen that allows you to pick what you want placed on the DVD. (See Figure 2.)

Figure 2. Adding pictures and videos to your DVD.

Let’s say I have a video in a .wmv file and a few .jpg files, all of which I want to put on my DVD. So I click the Add Items button and I’m prompted to enter the names of the files that contain my video and .jpgs. When I’ve added all four items, the file selection screen starts to fill out a bit. (See Figure 3.)

Figure 3. After adding pictures and videos to your DVD.

Notice that the individual .jpg files are stored in a folder (called “Slide Show”). If you want to look at the different photos stored in this folder, double-click the folder. This then enables you to adjust the order of the individual images, as desired. Return to the overall view by clicking the Back to Videos button (which looks like a folder with an up-arrow superimposed on it).

After you have your files ordered the way you want them, click the Next button. This takes you to the final screen where you can preview what is about to be burned to the DVD. (See Figure 4.)

Figure 4. Ready to burn your DVD.

Before finalizing your DVD, though, you can use the controls on the right side of the dialog box to modify the menu style, customize the menu text, or see the slideshow. Click the Burn button, and your DVD is burned to contain your information. When done, the DVD can be played in any standard DVD player.

Unfortunately, Microsoft dropped Windows DVD Maker from Windows 8, and it still is missing in Windows 10. For those versions of Windows, you’ll need to locate and download a third-party utility. (There are many available that a quick Internet search will turn up.)
